Pelvis Politics: What’s Really Going On Down There?

The pelvis is the middle manager of your body: bossed around from above and below, and responsible for holding it all together.
But it’s also wildly misunderstood. Tucked, tilted, or neutral—what’s “right”?
Truth: it depends.

Here’s what we do know...
A hyper-tilted pelvis can lead to lower back pain
(this is your hips tilted down to 6 o'clock)
A super-tucked pelvis can kill your glute game and mess with your spine’s natural curves. (this is your hips tilted up to 12 O'clock)
A neutral-ish pelvis lets your spine and core do their thing in harmony
But here’s the kicker... Most people don’t know where their pelvis is—or how it’s moving.
That’s why awareness is step one. In class I use tactile cues, "keep both bum cheeks on teh mat", sometimes ball props to help clients feel that pelvic positioning, we all know leg circles with your hips on a foam roller is easier. Once you understand the different alignments and what they feel like, then you can start making aligned, intentional choices.
Pelvis politics may be messy, but knowledge is power—and mobility is the revolution.
