Why Your Posture on the Couch Matters

You’re probably thinking, “Who cares about posture when I’m lounging?” Well, your couch posture matters more than you might realize—especially over time.
We’ve all been guilty of slouching, sinking into the couch, or lying in awkward positions for hours. But those habits can lead to tight hips, rounded shoulders, neck pain, and long-term postural imbalances.
So what can you do to sit smarter?
Sit on your sit bones Instead of letting your lower back round and sink into the couch, sit up tall and engage your core.
Keep your feet flat on the floor When your feet are unsupported, your pelvis tilts, leading to discomfort and poor posture.
Alternate positions Don’t stay in one spot for hours. Try getting up every 20 minutes to stretch or change positions to keep your body happy.
Your couch should be a place to relax, not a place that throws your body out of alignment. Remember... good posture isn’t just for your workout, it’s for your relaxation, too.
